N Viets intensifying Cambodia resistance

North Vietnamese forces attacked U.S. infantry near Mimot and across Cambodia, killing eight Americans and wounding 35, with American and South Vietnamese units reporting rising enemy activity in the Fish hook region. Allied forces destroyed supply trucks and stockpiles, while total Cambodian operations tallied 216 U.S. dead and 807 wounded.

Nixon to withdraw all troops from Cambodia early

Government sources told the New York Times that the Nixon administration will pull 14 000 American troops from Cambodia before the June 30 deadline. It plans to arm Cambodia's military government with about 7.5 million dollars worth of weapons. Domestic political and economic concerns push for an earlier announcement. State Department informed Senator Fulbright of the arms transfer as a security measure.

Rhodes tied to Crofters donations in Ohio race

Gov. James A. Rhodes joined a growing list of Republicans who received campaign funds from Crofters Inc in a probe of state investment loans. Donahue and Griffith gave Rhodes 1500 each to his Senate committee while Brown and others faced contributions from Crofters officers. State Auditor Cloud urged withdrawals from the ticket amid disclosures and returned donations.

Stock market slips further amid sharp Dow drop

New York markets opened with heavy activity as the Dow Jones average falls to 637.19 by 10:30 am. Declines outweighed advances 5-2 on the NYSE and analysts warn more erosion may follow. Yesterday the Dow dropped 79 points from the Kennedy era low with Nixon officials set to meet Wall Street within 10 days.

Record rainfall floods Lorain County with outages and hail

A two hour downpour drenched Lorain County with what is believed to be a record rainfall for the period, triggering flooded basements and streets, lightning, and power failures affecting about 1,400 Ohio Edison customers. Hail the size of a quarter fell in Avon as phones went out across Elyria and North Ridgeville, with restoration lagging after a central office flooding forced rerouting.

Fireman Has 1st and Last Ride in Burning C5A Jet

Palmerdle, Calif. UPI report details an electrical fire in the cargo area of the C5A transport at Palmdale Airport during a takeoff. Five firefighters were injured, about $6 million in damage, and 95 percent of the wiring destroyed. The crew escaped unharmed as the plane rolled forward with blocks placed alongside the wheels. One firefighter said it was his first and last ride in a C5A. The incident triggered an Air Force investigation. The jet was en route to Oklahoma after a training mission.

Midview Forum to hire lawyer over Fuller Road project

About 100 Midview district residents approved two moves after a talk by John Pincura assistant Lorain County Prosecutor to hire legal counsel and circulate petitions backing a land transfer to Elyria for a 190 unit mobile home project. Pincura outlined transfer methods and a possible referendum.

Ziegler Dunks In Pool In Washington Party Incident

President Nixon press secretary Ron Ziegler was shoved into a hotel pool at a cocktail party by a Democratic congressional employee, an event echoed by others at the gathering. Len Bickwit, identified by Maxine Cheshire in a Washington Post column, was reported as the pusher, with Hart subcommittee ties noted. Ziegler called the act surprising and lacking humor.
