Tragic Lorain Shortcut Tragedy Kills Three on Tracks
Three friends walking along Norfolk and Western Railway tracks near West Park Drive in Lorain were killed when a freight train struck them. John Cumberledge 28 and his wife Carol 23 died at the scene, Jim Adcox 16 died later at Lorain Community Hospital. Coroner Kishman ruled deaths accidental due to head injuries. The victims had been staying at Lorain Mobile Homes Trailer Park, and investigators identified them after locating a local resident. A separate shooting incident at the Adcox home left Danny Mercer seriously wounded.

C T faces $10 million libel suit over IRE Arizona series
A ten million dollar libel suit has been filed in Cleveland against The Chronicle Telegram over two articles from an IRE led series on organized crime in Arizona. Plaintiffs Peter Licavoli Jr and wife Lizbeth allege libel invasion of privacy and other offenses. The articles labeled Licavoli a major crime figure and boss of a drug ring with ties to stolen goods and prostitution. Licavoli denies all criminal activity and any involvement.
