New Federalism could be problem for local officials
Local and regional planners warn new federalism shifts power away from Washington while routing funds through state capitals. Officials like Allen of Clinton Township and Pizzedaz of Northeast Ohio fear reduced access to federal money for urban programs, environmental projects, and transit. They advocate keeping a direct link to federal aid and stress regional planning roles amid budget cuts.
