British raid hits Falklands as fighting widens

British forces carried raiding parties onto Argentine occupied Falklands today and bombarded targets from air and sea. A British helicopter went down before the attack, one crewman killed and 20 missing. McDonald said raids were underway with early indications of objectives being achieved while Argentine defenses denied any assault.

Ridgeville votes to cut levy to 10 mills for Aug 3 election

The Ridgeville school board approved a 10 mill continuing levy and set an August 3 ballot date after a 4-1 vote at 2:30 p.m. The change reversed a prior plan for a 13 mill levy and followed concerns about state funding cuts and election costs. Directors Carl Noll and Leo Kordish led the shift, while Dr. Charles Norris urged delaying until November citing cost and voter fatigue.

Second motorcycle death prompts safety plea

A South Amherst man, Robert E. Bollin, 32, died after losing control on Pyle-South Amherst Road near the Ohio Turnpike. He was thrown from his bike and not wearing a helmet. The Ohio Highway Patrol urged riders to drive defensively, watch speed, and use headlights, noting this month’s multiple serious motorcycle incidents.

Consumer prices rise 0.2 percent in April

The Labor Department reports a 0.2 percent April CPI increase reversing a brief decline. Food and housing costs offset a gasoline and oil price drop, yielding a 3 percent annual rate, while four months of 1982 show a 1.5 percent inflation when seasonally adjusted. Prices rose 8.9 percent in 1981 and 12.4 percent in 1980.

North Ridge sues City of North Ridgeville for 6 million

North Ridge Investment Corp filed a three count lawsuit in U S Bankruptcy Court Cleveland seeking more than 6 million for impairment of contract reimbursement of property and damages after North Ridge council repealed 1979 cluster status ordinance. The suit cites failure to restore the status quo and argues the city retains benefitsfrom amenities promised in exchange for 1600 homes on 76 foot lots over 16 years.
