Elyria Schools Could Face Major Cuts If Levy Fails
School Supt George B Smittie warned that a failed 75 mill levy next month would trigger drastic cuts starting September including closing the new Erie Elementary School halting all kindergarten classes reducing Elyria High School nurses to one and shuttering most elementary and junior high libraries. Elyria Plans $2 Million Shopping Center On Abbe Road
Plans reveal a $2 million retail complex on a 9-acre site bounded by Abbe Road East Broad Street and Kennedy Memorial Parkway on Elyria unincorporated area. Kennilworth Corp of New York would develop with a 73,000 square foot Hills Department Store as anchor and several other tenants.
