Queen's English user sues Sheffield schools over hiring
A Sheffield Lake woman, Joan Blumire, filed an ethnic discrimination complaint with the Ohio Civil Rights Commission alleging the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake School Board refused to hire her as a Forestlawn School receptionist due to her British accent. Investigations continue. district officials declined comment. Blumire is a naturalized U.S. citizen born near London and has resided in Sheffield Lake for two years.

A simulated hazmat incident will be held about 9 a.m. Saturday at the Lorain County Fairgrounds in Wellington. The exercise, required by Ohio, will be evaluated by state officials.
