Swindell Struggles As Indians Fall To Seattle 3-1
Cleveland lefthander Greg Swindell again lacked run support and poor defense doomed his effort in a 3-1 loss to Seattle before 5,665 at the Stadium. Huff misplay backing Swindell helped fuel Seattle's deciding run in the ninth as Tracy Jones drove in Harold Reynolds with a two-out double. The Indians also announced Alex Cole’s 20-day rehabilitation assignment to Colorado Springs amid ongoing injury woes.

Belichick still would have faced coaching changes
NFL sources say George Young would have named Ray Handley as Parcells successor even if Belichick had stayed with the Giants. Handley’s people skills are cited as a key factor over Belichick’s defense expertise, suggesting the move would have been the same. Additionally Browns receiver Sawyer Tillman underwent ankle surgery at Cleveland Clinic Hospital and is expected to miss early training camp. Tillman, 25, previously missed the 1990 season with a stress fracture and may wear a cast after surgery.
