Growth under scrutiny by North Ridgeville councilman
North Ridgeville's 23 year old councilman John Juncker, the youngest on the council, focuses on controlling growth to maintain city services. Growth is expected to rise from 13,152 in 1970 to at least 21,000 by 1985 per the planning commission. He favors slowing development, discouraging cluster subdivisions, and believes two-tier planning can ease city costs while preserving services. Juncker serves on the planning commission and notes the lengthy council process and 30 hours weekly workload for a part time position. He stresses the need for measured growth and says he enjoys tackling problems and learning each meeting.

The board will meet May 24 at 7:30 p.m. to hear complaints and advise council.

Four Spades From Hand Reading Heart Divisions
In this contract bridge column Becker analyzes a hand where recognizing the probable heart split guides the endplay. By assuming West holds six hearts and East three, the declarer can avoid a diamond finesse and execute a sequence leading to an end position where ruffing clubs and timely trumps secure the contract. The lesson emphasizes diagnosing heart division early for reward.
