Elyria officials announce a new downtown parking space on the Middle avenue parkway between Third and Fourth streets. The 40 to 50 car area opens immediately after a Safety Director and Fifteen-Fight sub committee meeting. The move adds to existing curb space with no changes to the curb.

A May 14 ruling by Common Pleas Judge J D Barnes granted an injunction preventing Miami University Oxford officials from expelling Jean West a 19 year old freshman from the Teachers College for poor scholastic standing. Tax reform bill proposes auto license fees in Ohio
Senator William Terner of Huron county introduces a bill in Columbus that would exempt autos from the personal property tax and replace revenue with vehicle license fees of four dollars for under 25 horsepower five to six dollars and ten dollars for higher power cars. Injunction filed to halt Schmeling Stribling title fight
In Cleveland on May 14 an injunction suit seeks to stop the World heavyweight title bout between Max Schmeling and W L Young Stribling set for July 3. Filed in the Court of Appeals by Joseph H. Doctor on Stand at Avery Trial in Sandusky
In Sandusky on May 14 judge and jurors heard Dr John W Ross Birmingham physician and surgeon testify for the defense in the first degree murder trial of Karl E Avery. Ross said Lambert's wounds were not deep and that a fractured skull was not evident though his opinion was challenged by the prosecution. Mansfield mill strikes for regular union wage scale
Some 1600 Empire Steel workers in Mansfield Ohio walked out to demand the standard union wage, rejecting a settlement that would have reduced wages by 15 percent total. Virgil Miller of Pittsburgh said strikers will be supported by the national union and remain off the job until the scale is restored. Empire Steel offered to drop the 5 percent cut, but the 10 percent reduction would stay.
