Health group renews try for recognition

The Lorain County Health Planning Association seeks official approval as the county health plan authority and hopes for labor support after labor objections stalled a prior grant. A new expanded application was filed earlier this month, with no hearing until August or later. Labor leaders have yet to decide on backing the plan, and county officials note hospital reviews occur with Cleveland Metropolitan Health Planning Corporation. The Elyria Memorial Hospital expansion faced disapproval from the Cleveland group, spurring renewed local efforts. In separate notes, northern nesting grounds for the rare whooping crane were found by U.S. and Canadian wildlife officials and the National Audubon Society, linking Aransas Refuge in Texas to Wood Buffalo National Park in Canada.
