Amherst High School Girl Killed By Car On North Lake Street
Debra Vandersommen an 18 year old junior at South Amherst High School was struck from behind by a southbound car on North Lake Street. Police say the driver Rudolph Harsar 32 of Berlin Heights saw the youths just before impact and slowed but could not avoid the collision. The victim dragged 120 feet after impact and died at Amherst Hospital 25 minutes later. Gregory Vandersommen 16 was with her wearing dark clothing. the accident remains under investigation.
