In a high turnout city election, Wichita voters rejected a non-discrimination ordinance by 47,246 to 10,005, about five to one, marking the third such repeal in U.S. history. Leaders blamed bigoted sentiment while activists warned of possible anti gay violence amid the aftermath.

Senators fault ICA name and push for change
U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee criticized the International Communications Agency ICA which had just renamed from USTA on April Fool's Day.
