In St. Louis, one man has been jailed twice since the bout, first for driving without a license and then on suspicion of narcotics possession with the drug charge pending. Spinks and Ali are scheduled to meet again September 15 at the New Orleans Superdome.
The blood smeared body of former Premier Aldo Moro, shot in the head and chained, was found in a red Renault in central Rome 55 days after his kidnapping by the Red Brigades. Police reported five spent cartridges and that the car, stolen and bearing Rome plates, had been parked for hours.
A classic Chekhov scene from The Cherry Orchard shows Madame Ranevsky, Varya, and Anya contemplating leaving their country home. The Berlin College campus Hall Auditorium hosts a four day run opening Wednesday night.
A National Airlines Boeing 727 carrying 58 people crashed into Escambia Bay near Pensacola Florida during landing. Three passengers were killed and many injured. Tugboat captain Glenn McDonald steered his barge to the stricken craft aiding many to safety.
Elyria City Schools vote looms as board weighs three options from Supt Showalter. A traditional start Aug 30 with June 8 finish, a mid year closing Nov 23 to Jan 2, or a late opening Sept 27 with June 28 finish. The late plan avoids mid year disruption but critics oppose.
The Ohio Department of Transportation hired 11 public information specialists whose primary role extended into political fundraising for Gov. Rhodes. They allegedly sold tickets to Rhodes fundraisers and promoted his candidacy while on state time, though DOT denies improper activity. One former employee described extensive political work, claiming little DOT duty was performed.
The forecast calls for showers and possible thundershowers this afternoon and evening with low temperatures around 40 to 45. Mostly sunny conditions are expected Wednesday with highs in the mid 60s. The chance of rain remains about 26 percent tonight and Wednesday. Details on Page 9.
