Midview student enters Miss Jr Teen Cleveland pageant
Melissa Elek, 15, a Midview High sophomore, will compete in the National 1998 Miss Jr. Teen Cleveland pageant on June 14 at the Masonic Temple in Cleveland. She competes in modeling across five divisions for ages 7 to 23 with over $20,000 in scholarships and prizes. the winner advances to a national Orlando competition with more than $60,000 in prizes.

Brooklyn man sentenced to 132 years for crack cocaine trafficking
Eric L Christman, 21, was convicted in Elyria of trafficking about five ounces of crack cocaine on two occasions and possession of criminal tools. He received a maximum sentence of 134% years plus an extra year as a major drug offender, with license suspension and a $10,000 fine. Prosecutors note another sale of about a quarter ounce on Aug. 16.
