Labor leader Hughes indicted for defrauding CWA
Cleveland union figure Martin J. Hughes denies a 37 count federal indictment charging him with submitting forged expense vouchers to disguise political contributions as union expenses. The 64 year old regional vice president represented 90,000 CWA members and led the local Labor Federation. The scheme allegedly totaled about 380,000 in mischarged payments to candidates and credit union workers from 1980 to 1985.
