Lorain Debates Rules for City Auxiliary Police
City officials debated the proposed rules for Lorain’s new auxiliary police, with SAFETY Director William Mills and City Solicitor John J. Hritsko reviewing objections. Mayor Joseph J. Zaberec, who proposed the plan, said emergency sanction is needed and that auxiliary members would join the regular force. Police union spokesman Wilfred Castro voiced concerns as hearings continued about duties and rider access for auxiliary members and special handling by the regular police.
