State lawmakers push 8 percent interest on late state bills
State Rep William G Batchelder introduced a bill in the Ohio House to require the state to pay an eight percent interest penalty on bills not paid within 60 days. The measure also covers delays in reimbursing state employees for travel expenses. Batchelder said delinquent payments harm small merchants who rely on timely payments and incur high short term loan costs. He noted many affected businesses are drug stores serving Medicare and Medicaid patients and urged the state to pay promptly.

Tansey balks at travel bureau transfer in state budget
