Small Nevada A-bomb test yields brief bright flash
The 24th atomic device in Nevada near Mt Charleston exploded at 8 a.m. local time atop a 300 foot tower. The flash was visible 500 miles away in Moscow Idaho and the fireball lasted three seconds. The cloud rose briefly into a mushroom shape before dissipating.

Patrolman Plas To Leave Elyria Police Force
Patrolman Joseph F. Plas of the Elyria Police Department will resign effective Thursday April 16 after about four years of service. In his resignation letter he states he will enter private business. Plas is a 1940 Elyria High School graduate and served three years in World War II followed by construction work before joining the force. He lives at 1131 East River Street with his wife and four children.

Farmer Fatally Hurt in Truck Car Collision Near Medina
Albert E. Zoschnick 57 a Brownswick Township farmer died of a crushed chest after his car rear ended a State Highway Department truck on State Route 42 one half mile north of Medina at 9 20 am. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Medina Community Hospital. He is survived by his wife Gladys two children Marilyn and Maynard two brothers Fred and Walter and five sisters. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 30 pm at Valley City Emmanuel Evangelical and Reformed Church with burial in Brunswick Cemetery. NYC Engineer Retires After 44 Years With Rail Line

Six Persons Hurt In Collision In Ridgeville
Six people were injured in a two car crash on Route 20 at 10 20 p m in Ridgeville. Robert Calhoun 38 of Wallace Boulevard and Allen D Moore 26 of 121 Lodi Street were involved. Deputies cited Moore.
