Tuition hike at Lorain County Community College rises 3 percent

Lorain County Community College will raise tuition 3 percent this summer and add 1.40 per credit hour in fees, pushing in county costs to 47.70 and out of county costs to 57.70. President Roy Church cites inflation while noting a move from quarters to semesters may begin as early as 1998 to align with other Ohio universities.

Vasi pushes plan for county justice center on Third Street

Elyria officials contemplate a new justice center to house courtrooms and criminal justice offices on Third Street. Flames consume Grafton eatery in oldest village building

Flames ripped through Nader's Family Restaurant at 886 Main St in downtown Grafton Thursday night. One firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation and the 150 year old attached vacant house was destroyed. Building owner names are listed as Judith Biott and Cheryl Becker of New London.

One dead in Rt. 20 crash. another critical in separate incident

An 85 year old man died after turning onto Oberlin Elyria Road from Russia Road and colliding with a southbound car driven by a 17 year old. The 87 year old woman was struck while crossing the road at 12:30 p.m. and suffered a broken pelvis and leg. No charges filed.

Manny Ramirez Involved in Auto Accident In Florida

Winter Haven police continue investigation after Manny Ramirez driver hit five year old Kent Simpson of Garrettsville near an exhibition game with Toronto at Chain O Lakes Park. Simpson suffered a shattered pelvis and was airlifted to Cleveland Clinic from Winter Haven Hospital. No charges have been filed, according to team spokesman Bart Swain.
