Radiation escapes at Panuke plant Three Mile Island incident report

Harrisburg Pa AP authorities said a water pump failed at Three Mile Island Nuclear Reactor releasing a small amount of radiated steam into the atmosphere before containment. No injuries or dangerous external radiation. winds carried the plume south by southeast toward three small towns. N-plant automatic shutdown occurred and internal radiation was noted higher than normal. Metropolitan Edison officials planned a state police helicopter monitoring team.
