Chance for Ohio boys to win Rhodes scholarships

At a meeting of Ohio college presidents a plan to award Rhodes scholarships was discussed. A committee will manage the selection process. Two scholarships cover two years at Oxford University with 1,500 dollars in expenses. Two more scholarships follow in subsequent years, with no fourth year. Winners will be chosen by competitive examination.

Chicago March 28 Two thousand carriers in wagon works began a strike this morning affecting more than three hundred shops. Workers seek an 11 percent wage raise and recognition for onion. Rev Sala's class of 38 young men from the Disciple church known as the Garfield class entertained Mrs Storer's class of young ladies at Byron Jackson's Fourth street home. A delightful social evening was held with the pastor seated in a fine leather cushioned office chair he said was his.

A divorce was granted Monday to William Penfound Jr from Katherine A Penfound on grounds of gross neglect of duty. Mrs Penfound was plaintiff in the original suit but her petition was dismissed and the hearing was on the defendant cross petition. Alimony had been settled outside of court.

Arthur Flickenger married his aunt Leona Whitney of Ober din in Detroit last Fourth of July. The couple kept the affair secret until a friend learned of it and disclosed the information. Mrs Flickenger is about forty with two grown daughters. he is twenty five. They plan to move to Medina.

Missing butler pockets $25,000 in jewels from Mrs Nathan

Police search for George Bossath, butler to Alfred Nathan, who vanished last Saturday with jewelry worth $25,000. Bossath left a note to Mrs Nathan promising to return pawn tickets if kept quiet, warning he might flee to Europe if police are involved.

Coal men injunction blocks price fixing in coal trade

Judge Kobl today granted a temporary injunction in the United States District Court restraining Witnois and ten Indiana coal firms and individuals from continuing contracts to fix or maintain coal prices, ruling the activity violated the Sherman anti trust act.
