The area faces cooler conditions with considerable cloudiness and scattered showers today and tonight. Highs near the 60s, lows upper 30s to low 40s. Tomorrow remains cloudy and cooler with intermittent rain. High was 69 at 6 pm yesterday, low 42 at 9 am.
Lorain County Commissioners request G A Hall of the Ohio Pollution Control Board attend a hearing in their office on April 5 about sewers and a sewage disposal system for Westview Park in Columbia Township. Commissioner Keron urged a board representative, the Health Department, and State Rep Henry Schriver to answer Westview residents' questions. Approximately 150 residents attended a March 6 Elyria hearing protesting the proposed assessments. The April 5 time will be announced later and may be in the evening.
Red Rooster Farm Market offers Page's Milk at 79¢ a gallon with a $3 purchase. Black Angus rib steak and standing rib roast priced at 79¢ per pound. Large Sweet California navel oranges 6 for 1.00. Ad appears on Pages 40 and 41 with Meyer Goldberg's Supermarket location given as Rants 57 across from Midway.
Elyria public schools have added over 3,700 students since 1960, creating a burden on taxpayers. Supt. George B. Smittle urged support for a 6-mill operating levy on the May ballot, warning of cuts to textbooks, repairs, and programs if the levy fails.

Paris reports President Charles de Gaulle denounces the dollar and pound system as unworkable urging a full return to the gold standard. He accuses U.S. policies of unfairness, warns of a world crisis, and notes France has bought large gold reserves while France was sidelined from crisis talks.
Lorain Port Authority Chairman A. David Baumbart calls the recent Tokyo Trade Fair a smashing success. The item appears on page 43 of the edition.
Rowland Evans and Robert Novak report on Congress push to replace a 10 percent surtax with bracket tax-rate revisions and require spending cuts double Johnson’s proposal. They note dissatisfaction with Johnson’s $3 to $4 billion in cuts and suggest less spending on pork, Great Society, and some military programs.
U.S. airmen said North Vietnamese forces may have pulled back at least two regiments from Khe Sanh as monsoon winds shifted. Capt. Charles Rushforth reported indications up to 2,400 NVA troops moved away, with pilots agreeing. Analysts at Phu Bai doubted overrun capability though shelling and probes may continue.
Prosecutor Paul J. Mikus said he will not present the bombing death of Samuel Hammons to the Lorain County Grand Jury because the prime suspect is dead. The coroner may conduct an inquiry using FBI reports and Mayor Nicholas Mitock's official request.
Larry Cox 22 of Avon Lake received a renewable 15 day residency permit to reside and work in France as one of four war resisters and five army deserters. The group was escorted to the Paris police prefecture by two French lawyers. Cox, Mount Union College graduate, led a 50 mile antiwar march from Massillon to Cleveland in 1966. He is an Avon Lake High School and Mount Union alum.
The Lorain County Board of Elections extends hours for May primary registration. Director Lila Black announced Saturday 8 30 am to 4 pm and Monday Tuesday 8 30 am to 8 pm and next Wednesday 8 30 am to 9 pm at offices on 115 Cedar St Elyria and 1205 Broadway Lorain.
