County Auditor Frank Ayrea warned that the filing deadline for personal tax returns is March 31 and a penalty may be charged after that date. The rule covers owners of equipment and inventory used in business, livestock, farm products and machinery, aircraft and watercraft, mortgages and land contracts, notes, stocks, incomes from trusts, and cash in safety deposits. Returns go to the auditor's personal tax department. About 10,000 returns are filed annually, with only 3,500 filed to date.
