Three Prisoners Enter Pleas Of Guilty
Three pleas of guilty and ten pleas of not guilty were entered by persons indicted by the grand jury. Fred Avery of Cleveland was sentenced to one to 15 years in the penitentiary for the theft of an air compressor from a filling station on J. McFadden Lake road west of Lorain. He was indicted for burglary and larceny. Louis Tscherne, Cleveland, pleaded guilty and applied for parole. bond set at 1000 pending parole hearing. Bert Konya of Lorain pleaded guilty to carrying concealed weapons. he fired the revolver while intoxicated, drawing attention that led to his arrest. Assistant Prosecutor Joan Harding said trials may begin near Tuesday. Elyria defendants found not guilty include Louie Tahaes, MOT support. Terry Kessler, assault and batter. John Ellis, assault. Clyne Popher, non-support. Lorain defendants who pleaded: John Vernosky, assault to rob. A. & Mead, check charges. Alvin Meyers, burglary and larceny. Joe Rutyinsky, attempted burglary. Florence Smith, cutting with intent to wound. Mike Smith, statutory charge.

Richard and Victor Du Pont and four friends were rescued from their yawl Nahma after six days of storm at sea. Accompanying Wilmington and Philadelphia associates, they were saved by the Republic’s Powers crew near Moorehead City and taken to hospital in Panama for recovery before arranging passage home.

Amherst man fined for driving while intoxicated

Plane Drops Food To Heavy Freighter Locked In Ice
Ice locked freighter Fellowcraft with a crew of 20 has sat north of Pelee Island for over 90 hours. An airplane dropped 1,000 pounds of provisions including lobster tail to the vessel. Coast guards say the ship is not in immediate danger unless wind shifts or a storm drives it toward Pelee Island or Point Pelee rocks. The freighter remains on a large floe that drifted in with the wind and later became stationary. The plane will attempt another run if seas are favorable. The Taylor dredge, ice bound near Put-in-Bay, has been released and docked in Cleveland.
