Raleigh's Burial Place Question Reopens in England
The burial site of Sir Walter Raleigh is disputed with claims over his head and body. After his execution in 1618, his wife kept his head for 25 years and urged burial in his brother-in-law's church. Historians suggest the head, body, and possibly his son’s burial sites may converge at St Margaret's, Beddington, or West Horsley. Dr. Brushfield proposes inscribing Raleigh's name and coat of arms on a stone. No English memorial exists for the "universal genius" yet.
