Elyria City Council approved an ordinance creating building inspector positions with monthly salaries of 275, 250, 225 and 200 for different classes and gave first reading to hiring a sidewalk inspector at up to 200 monthly. The body also amended the zoning ordinance for Middle avenue between 15th and 16th streets to allow a 50 foot height and bulk, opening the way for a Polish Club building. Other actions included advertising for 3,000 tons of coal for the waterworks, removing parking on one side of Pasadena avenue, rezoning Kenwood and Cleveland streets from B residential to F commercial, granting permission to move a 15 by 20 frame building from West street to Oberlin road, and planning parking meter changes and Broad street half-parking consideration tied to new Friday store hours.

Two Cars Skid Into Collision On Icy Route 82
Yesterday two eastbound cars skidded on water and ice along Route 82, colliding head on. Helen May Burkle, 4, Wakeman, driven car damaged after spinning on the road. Sidney Spitzer, 24, Grafton, said he skidded and could not stop before hitting Burkle’s vehicle.
