Mother York the jail angel who feeds and preaches hope
A 57 year old Chicago woman known as Mother York visits Cook County Jail daily for 29 years, delivering soap, candy, shampoo and Bible lessons to 3,000 of 4,600 inmates every two weeks. She spends six to seven hours daily at the jail, funds her work with donations, and teaches Bible classes, prayers, and services across the jail complex without pay.
