Lorainite Begins Second Lake Erie Kayak Crossing
Lorainite Joseph Hertzig, 54, plans a record voyage from Leamington Ontario to Lorain, paddling about 10 hours and 45 miles in a lilac kayak. He previously completed the Lorain to Point Pelee Canada crossing in 1967 and now will travel the reverse route starting near Leamington to the municipal pier in Lorain.

A frame covered with canvas kayak built by Hertzig will be tested in a solo journey from Canada to Lorain. A New London United Fund reorganization met at the Grange Hall Tuesday night. Louis Schlotterer was named board chair to oversee plans and the 1971 drive starting in October.
