Detention homes urged in Elyria Lorain for dependent women children
Lorain County Humane Society outlined plans to establish detention homes in Elyria and Lorain to care for dependent women and children who cannot be committed to existing facilities. Otto Mischka cited cases including a mother arrested on liquor charges and a family with four children left unsupervised. Pending papers and a ten day search for a missing father delay placement, with emergency guardianship by the Children's Home. The society aims to house up to 200 children yearly, arguing such homes aid law enforcement and provide temporary care until permanent arrangements are made.
