Seven killed in crossing crash near Peoria Illinois
Peoria Illinois June 14 three people died and one injured probably fatally when a Rock Island train struck a stalled automobile at a crossing. The dead were Mrs Harry Dancy 50 her daughter Margaret 11 and Albert Getchel driver. Mrs Ida Baumgartner 51 was critically injured. In Gary Indiana four men were killed when their car was struck by a second train while crossing railroad tracks.

Two Railroaders Killed in Auto Crash Near Marion
Bain Thorp age 25 a Columbus railroad fireman and C E Welch age 55 an engineer from Lewis Center were killed when their automobile collided head on with a ward transportation truck on State Route 28 five miles south of Marion Ohio. The auto was demolished and both men died instantly. The truck driver escaped unhurt. Welch survived by his wife and six children.

Washington reports a five alarm blaze in the business district last night killed deputy fire chief P. R. Davis and injured eight other firemen, four seriously. Carol Dolpher aged four of Cleveland was bitten on the right cheek by a dog in the yard of William Harding at 349 Oxford Avenue yesterday afternoon. The dog was tied, and the girl entered the yard per police report. She received treatment at Elyria Memorial Hospital and had been visiting Mrs. Walter Peak at 345 Oxford Avenue.

Four Traffic Tags Issued for Parking Violations
Police yesterday issued four traffic violation tags. Two concerned parking without lights, one cited overtime parking, and one for parking between the sidewalk and curb.

Three Youths Drown In Lake Erie Off Chagrin River
Bulletin from Cleveland reports three youths drowned when a small sailboat overturned in Lake Erie near the Chagrin River mouth on June 14. Surviving 23 year old Miss Alice France was rescued after four hours in water. Higgins, Burrington, and Brown were named among the victims. Higgins was identified as manager of Loews Alhambra Theater. Coast Guard and a Highland Park captain aided the search and rescue effort.

Elmira New York June 14 a 160 foot temporary sidewalk gave way with twenty people in hospital after a busy downtown intersection collapse during peak late afternoon traffic. Almost fifty persons fell into the excavation beneath and five are said to be in serious condition today.

Highway Work in Full Blast in Lorain County
State highway construction in Lorain county is proceeding at full blast. Bridges and culverts on the Elyria to Leeds road started yesterday. Lake road work advances with ten feet on the north side and twenty feet on the south side completed for about a half mile. Three more miles of the south side twenty foot strip remain, with Milan-Elyria and Cleveland-Lorain roads also active from French Creek to the county line.
