Second Suspect Held In Cleveland Robbery Case
The second of three Cleveland men linked to the Emil Ruth hold up near South Amherst is incommunicado in Lorain County today. Nick Nichols, 32, was identified as one of the trio that robbed Ruth of 1901 and a gold watch to cash payroll checks. Nichols confessed after a Sheriff’s grilling. a preliminary hearing is set before Justice Arthur Engle. The remaining suspect, Michael DeCorpo, is free on $2,500 bail while authorities seek the first man believed to be the ring leader who may have fled the state.

Frances Juliette Hosford, Oberlin College teacher and dean, receives the 1936 Alumni Medal for Distinguished Service. She is the first woman honored. Hosford, a Lake Erie Seminary graduate, joined Oberlin in 1888 as Latin tutor, later earning A B and MA degrees and serving as Dean of Women. She authored Oberlin history articles and books.
