Frank Sittinger, 68, a New York Central Railroad car inspector for 45 years, died at Elyria Memorial Hospital after his right leg was severed by a freight train near Abbe Road. The accident occurred about 10 a.m. as workers nearby rushed to aid him. officials investigate. He is survived by his wife and five children, all residents of the area.

Seventeen girls and 11 boys earned honor student status at Elyria High School’s 87th commencement. Valedictorian and processional leader William Harwood Lerseh, son of Mr and Mrs Harwood Lerseh, attained an overall average of 96.79 percent. He served as senior class president and received a Young Men’s Club medal as outstanding boy, with roles in National Honor Society Sapientes L’Ensemble Francais band and orchestra, Hi Y clubs, school staff, tennis and light weight basketball, and performed a trumpet solo at the ceremony.
