Gator bit boy in lake Charles fishing incident

Eight year old Thad Little of Hackberry was bitten on the leg by a 9 1 2 foot alligator while minnows fishing in a canal near his home. He was hospitalized at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for about ten days. The alligator was shot and killed by wildlife officials.

Ford recalls 1.5 million Pintos and 30,000 Bobcats over fuel tank danger

Ford Motor Co. agrees to a nationwide recall of 1.5 million Pinto cars and 30,000 Mercury Bobcats from 1971 to 1976 to correct fuel tank defects. Modifications will start in September, with NHTSA canceling a hearing and consumer advocate Ralph Nader calling the move inadequate amid a related $128.5 million jury award in a Pinto explosion case.
