Fire levels Falls lumber yard in Olmsted Falls
A weekend lightning strike caused a $1 million fire at Westview Lumber and Supply Co. on Columbia Road. Fire officials said a power line sparked flames that spread through metal siding to wood and sawdust, engulfing the main building and a nearby supply structure. About 100 firefighters from multiple towns fought the blaze. no injuries were reported. The fire proceeded from sparks carried by winds with flames leaping hundreds of yards before containment.
