Attorney sues to keep All-Star game in Cleveland

Pryor in Critical Condition After Lighter Explosion

Comedian Richard Pryor, 38, was in critical but stable condition at Sherman Oaks Community Hospital after a butane lighter exploded at his Northridge home. He sustained 50 percent total body surface burns on his upper body and face, with third degree burns on the chest and arms, and was conscious and talking to family. Fire and police investigated cause as Pryor’s clothing burned and he collapsed in the street. neighbors called for help. Pryor is known for films such as The Wiz, Silver Streak, Car Wash, and Blazing Saddles, with recent projects including Stir Crazy and Wholly Moses.

Oberlin businessman LeRoy Dewey launches annual cancer auction

Cancer survivor LeRoy Dewey of Oberlin plans an annual fundraiser after a 1976 surgery saved his life. Last year he organized an auction that raised 23500 for Lorain County Unit of the American Cancer Society, and the 1980 event is set for June 27 to 29 at Oberlin College with bargains for all. Dewey, 68, says he seeks national reach despite tight money and unemployment while continuing treatments and honoring his life-saving operation.
