Britain delays key Korea unification talks at Geneva
At Geneva, Britain's bid to postpone a meeting on Korean unification derailed Western moves toward ending the phase of negotiations. Molotov proposed a five point program, prompting Eden to seek more time to study Soviet ideas while South Korea and the United States grew angry. Eden flew to London to brief the cabinet and may return for Tuesday’s Indochina session where Molotov is expected to announce. Molotov then met French Foreign Minister Bidault, but no progress was reported after a 50 minute discussion on cease-fire control in Indochina.
