Vote on School Plan Stirs Penfield Controversy In Lorain County
Lorain County Board faced a challenge to put to public vote a disputed school plan affecting Penfield Township. Penfield board member Tom West filed a by-mail remonstrance seeking a vote on consolidation with Carlisle LaGrange, citing a new district created by county action and Wellington options. The move prompts legal questions about how a majority vote would be executed and whether Penfield remains within the county system or joins a separate district.
