Four held up Club 28. four nabbed after chase

Lorain and Elyria officers quickly rounded up four men after the Club 28 robbery on East 28th Street and Oakwood Avenue. The suspects, three from Cleveland and one from Shaker Heights, were stopped in Elyria on Third Street near West Avenue and handed to Lorain police for armed robbery investigation after a high speed pursuit involving two Lorain cruisers and one Elyria unit.

GM Parma Plant Struck by Auto Workers

Workers walked out at General Motors Parma Chevrolet plant on Brook Park and Stumps roads, with picketing around 5 am. CIO UAW Local 1050 official George Fritsch said the walkout was unauthorized and that the union is investigating discontent over working conditions and a misunderstood contract deadline. Truck toppled 35 foot bank pins driver for hour Avon Lake

Albert Martin a 56 year old Cleveland truck driver was trapped beneath his dump truck for about an hour after it toppled from a 35 foot bank onto a Lake Erie beach in Avon Lake. He suffered scalp lacerations and leg abrasions and was in fair condition at St Joseph Hospital Lorain. The truck belonged to East Construction Co and was dumping excavated material to fight erosion at Curtis Dutt's property. Firefighters police and crane crews worked to lift the truck and free Martin as volunteers helped.

Bank holdup suspect linked to fugitive and teen girl

Cleveland police named 28 year old Louis Teller and his 17 year old Akron girlfriend Laura Lee Ritenour as hot suspects in the $65,000 Cleveland Trust branch robbery. Detectives tied Teller to a Jan 14 Detroit robbery and a March 17 armory raid. Two East Cleveland men, Rosso and Varro, confessed to a $23,000 Cleveland Trust holdup and implicated Teller. They said Teller’s girlfriend helped casing the branch and that other runners provided getaway cars. Teller and the girlfriend face Akron warrants for a separate $31,000 Motor Inn robbery. Everhart, tied to the armory raid, is held for gunfire injuries.

Court Bill Vote Due Tomorrow

Mayor Keys told City Council last night that the Ohio Senate will vote on the Elyria Municipal Court bill Wednesday. Action by the Senate is needed to set up the court for Elyria and the townships of Elyria Ridgeville and Carlisle. The bill has passed the House and all judiciary committees and is expected to be approved. Extra special geraniums 39¢ each or $4.50 a dozen.

1800 Local GM Workers Await Word
