Two Elyria Teachers Honored at Tea Party
Two Elyria public school teachers with a combined 76 years in the district were honored at a faculty tea in the Ely school auditorium. Miss Olive McNeal ends 52 years of service mainly as a first grade instructor at McKinley school. A T Smith, Elyria High School coach of commercial subjects for 24 years, came from Steubenville High in 1928 and plans to retire gradually, returning to a farm near Irwalt before teaching again.

Juvenile Judge Malcolm Thomson heard testimony in the case of John Sipos Lorain grocer and former mayoral candidate charged with aiding delinquency of his 17 year old son by hiring him to deliver policy gambling slips to a Cleveland headquarters. The son testified he made daily trips to Cleveland with slips from his father's store after his brother left for military service. He said he left a bag with policy numbers at Tom's garage in Cleveland. The arrest followed Cleveland police finding slips on the boy during a trip.

Lucy Cross Jenkins, graduate of Elyria High School in 1887, marks 63rd anniversary of her graduation while 82 and still learning. She and her husband David Jenkins, also 82, study history at City College of Long Beach, California. The couple moved from Elyria to Cleveland after their 1899 marriage and he later led the Cleveland Citizen as publisher.
