Jenkins Claiming Decathlon Glory Sets Sights On Next Season
Lorain Catholic sophomore Jim Jenkins earned the outstanding underclassman plaque at the 1971 Lorain County Decathlon with 5 818 points, finishing fifth overall and signaling plans to be county’s top track athlete next year. He praised his high jump and mile efforts while reflecting on near misses and a disappointing long jump, noting a strong pole vault and a near 5 15 mile time as he looks ahead. In another note, Findlay reached the Class AAA state baseball final after a 4 0 semi final win, with Randy Hamlin driving in three runs on a fourth inning homer to spark the victory.
