Elections Board OKs seven ward Elyria plan
Lorain County Board of Elections unanimously backed the Democrat controlled council plan to redistrict Elyria into seven wards. The action followed a prosecutor opinion that the plan is legal. The ruling quashes Kellogg’s Republican plan certified before Jan 1. Any party may appeal. The board is split Democrats two and Republicans two. A prior suit to block Kellogg’s plan was dismissed. The new map shifts Ward boundaries around the turnpike and river regions, altering ward assignments for several areas.
