Wakeman Lions eye screen campaign high on sight

The Wakeman Lions Club launches a drive to raise about 3000 for an MTT Photo Screener to detect vision disorders in children ages six months to five years. Volunteers will screen at day cares and fairs, free with parental approval, while collecting eyeglasses, hearing aids and fundraiser items for local causes.

Wellington couple sue baby sitter over toddler injury

Loretta Asberry and Michael Gunter filed a $75,000-plus lawsuit on behalf of their son Marcus Ryan Asberry against Terri L. Cannon of Wellington and Robert Honoshofsky. They allege the sitter struck the toddler causing a broken leg and other injuries on June 2, 1997 at 52389 State Route 18. Cannon, 28, faces felony child endangering charges and denies harming the child. Honoshofsky says he owns the rental property and was unaware of the injury or suit.
