Firefighters rodeo set for Great Northern Mall
NORTH OLMSTED Calf roping steer bucking and horse riding mark the Northern Ohio Firefighters Championship Rodeo at Great Northern Mall this weekend. Five shows start 6 p.m. today and 2 and 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with proceeds split among local firefighters county group and Metro General burn center. Tickets 6.50 adults 4.50 children. A country dance after the Saturday 6 p.m. show features Mike Sayers and the Mecca Band included in admission.

Housing trial postponed for two Lorain officials
The Lorain housing program case against Elio Jacobozzi and Sanford Prudoff is moved to Sept 8 with an earlier Aug 3 second trial date. Judge Richard M. Markus granted the continuance at attorney Niki Schwartz’s request due to illness. Both defendants were previously sentenced to prison terms after guilty verdicts on theft and unlawful interests in public contracts. The schedule change follows their April sentencing by Judge James McAllister. County events include a teen roping contest and a Corn Festival with pre sale tickets at IGA and Rini's Supermarkets. The festival runs next Friday through Sunday.

City Blue Cross rate hike set to raise city costs
Auditor Beverly Renner told the city council finance committee that Blue Cross premiums will rise 40 percent in September, increasing per worker monthly costs from 125 to 175 dollars.
