Democrats Weigh No-Confidence Move Against Acheson
Democrats privately press President Truman to oust Secretary of State Dean Acheson. Some lawmakers join Republicans to push a no-confidence vote aimed at blocking the 8.5 billion dollar foreign aid program run by the State Department. The move risks political fallout for Democrats in 1952 primaries, especially in Texas where Sen. Connally opposes Acheson and fends off primary challenges.
