Thoughts on New York society and radio stars
New York Day By Day catalogs radio and stage figures with playful caricatures. C O McIntyre rakes through names like Rudy Valle, Dorothy Parker, Clifton Webb, Paul Whiteman and Dorothy Thompson, notes gossip salons, and laments changes in Central Park and a vanished Sid Solomon’s Casino in the Park as he muses on Manhattan’s social scene.

A child named Willie habitually launches skates from the driveway, one shattering a basement window. He hides in a narrow court, fearful of punishment, until found. His mother forgives him but requires repayment for the broken pane and cautions care with future skates. The piece ends noting a fashion aside on sunny stockings.
