Two Dogs Kill 150 Turkeys on Lorain County Farm
Dog warden Lee Minkler and deputies sought two police dogs after they invaded Earl Smith’s poultry farm on Lake Avenue between Adelbert and Samuel streets at 40 am. The pair killed 150 turkeys valued about 2 dollars each, half of Smith’s flock. The two-acre field was breached by burrowing under a six foot fence. Smith drove them off with a shotgun. Poultry losses lack state reimbursement under current law, prompting Minkler to push for a legislature change at the Northern Ohio Dog Wardens Association meeting in Revens next Thursday to include turkey losses for compensation.
