As of Oct 31 Rt 254 between Rt 58 and Rt 57 will no longer be a state highway and be turned over to the county. The move follows the relocation of Rt 2 which will handle most traffic. Griffith Blacktop of Lorain is resurfacing the four and a half mile Rt 254 and two and a half mile Abbe Road at a cost of 142326. Abbe Road resurfacing is from Colorado Avenue to Lake Road. The state says the work preps the roads before transfer and local officials note a gasoline tax burden shift to the county.
