In Sugar Creek near Vermilion two motorists died after an overturned Corvette submerged in three feet of water following a light rain. The Doran vehicle skidded 142 feet, fell 17 feet, and landed upside down in mud. both occupants died by drowning per Erie County Coroner.

Robert Parrish, 38, of 4160 Kenyon Ave., died after a short circuit while holding a light during boiler cleaning at the B F Goodrich chemical plant in Avon Lake. Jackson Duncan, 48, of Elyria, was treated for shock and released. Parrish was pronounced dead at Lorain St Joseph Hospital at 4 45 p m. He was a married father of two and had worked three and a half years in the boiler house maintenance role.

Parcel post rates to rise by 10.5 percent
