Flower wagon tale in New York day by day
A July New York piece describes a rickety flower wagon run by a middle aged Italian man. A 14 year old girl buys a cactus for 20 cents with two dimes, then visits a tenement where a white haired woman smiles at the plant from a window. The scene contrasts street commerce with quiet family gratitude and ends with a list of assorted miscellanies by Berton Braley and others.
