Sheffield council stalls bill to curb paving plants
Sheffield officials shelved a proposed ordinance to ban asphalt cement and related plants in the village after objections from Councilwoman Rosemary Schwarz. The measure would prohibit asphalt blacktopping and cement facilities, while supporters argued current plants violate the zoning. The council then returned the bill to committee and adopted sewer work and road widening actions on Orchard Court with a $1.50 front foot assessment and bids for pipes and fittings. Vacation of July 24 to Sept. 11 was approved amid calls for more frequent meetings.
